Abstract

The current technology for high-performance computing is exploding with innovation. Where once a small number of architectures, techniques, models, and languages dominated the landscape, we now have a combinatorial explosion of approaches to high-performance computing. Amidst all the choices and excitement rest several key challenges in achieving the next-generation of performance on computing platforms. This talk will highlight three growing challenges facing high-performance computing: hierarchy, complexity, and reliability.
