Abstract
Swarming is a peer-to-peer technology for downloading files faster from a heavily loaded server. However, because data passes through many third-party nodes, there is an increased risk of deliberate data corruption. A cryptographic hash can be used to verify the file as a whole, but it is not clear how to efficiently locate and fix corrupted portions of the file. I will present an overview of swarming, briefly discuss its benefits, then examine a some possible techniques for fixing corrupted parts of the file.
