Abstract
This colloquium addresses key issues for students interested in future employment at Microsoft and in the software industry in general. The talk will cover issues such as what types of jobs are at Microsoft; how to prepare your resume so you get an interview; what comprises a good background for working at Microsoft; and what is an interview like at Microsoft. The talk will also profile some of our former students currently at Microsoft including Gurdeep Singh Pall ( M.S. 1989), Corporate VP for the Real Time Collaboration Group.
There will be time for questions and answers, and informal discussions. Pizza will be served.
Bio
Ivan Lumala has worked for Microsoft for over 15 years, 12 of those years as a Software Design Engineer in the Quality Assurance organization of the Visual Studio team. Some of the technologies and products he has worked on at Microsoft include Windows 3.11, Visual C++, Visual J Debugger, and Visual Studio .NET. He is currently the Microsoft Pacific Northwest region Academic Relations Manager.
