Abstract
The Computer and Information Science department provides many research opportunities for students. Different professors and labs have differing benefits and expectations for student researchers. To highlight a few of the opportunities, four professors will discuss their ongoing research and the opportunities present for burgeoning student researchers.
Professor Dou will discuss his work in Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining and the Semantic Web, showing how his students can participate in creating the next generation of information sharing technology.
Professor Anthony Hornof will show the work done in his Eye-Tracking and Sound labs to examine cognitive modeling and provide assistive communication software to the severely disabled community.
Professor Michal Young will discuss his current work on software reliability and testing, and the problems open to enthusiastic new software engineers.
Professor Virginia Lo will discuss opportunities to work with her on the next generation of peer-to-peer grid computing systems to harness idle compute cycles around the globe and the hot new field of distributed massively multi-player games.
