Abstract
This talk will provide an insider's look at the computer gaming industry: who the players are (developers, publishers, retailers), and how they interact (who does what, and who pays for what). Brian will discuss the target platforms (consoles, PCs, handheld), demographics, the size & makeup of development teams, and game development challenges.
In addition, the talk will cover which pieces of a computer science education are particularly relevant to game development on a daily basis and why; and how to get into the games business: what kinds of things employers look for.
