How to get here
- Driving
Driving directions can be found here.
- Flying into Eugene
If you fly into Eugene, the only way to get to campus from the airport is via taxi. There should be taxis available outside the baggage claim area. Tell the driver that you want to go to 15th and Agate on campus. When you get to campus, see checking in below.
- Flying into Portland
If you fly into Portland, you will have to get to Eugene. You can either take the Greyhound bus, the Amtrak bus or train, or a shuttle from pdx to Eugene.- Taking a shuttle
There are several shuttles from the Portland airport to the University of Oregon campus. The two most reasonably priced are city2city and HUT
If you take HUT, it will drop you off at the Phoenix Inn. From the Phoenix Inn parking lot, walk South along Alder Street until you reach 13th Avenue. Turn Left on 13th Street and walk East until you reach Agate Street. Turn Right on Agate Street and walk South to 15th Street. See checking in below.
If you take city2city, get off at University and 15th. See checking in below. If you end up at University Inn parking lot, walk East along Franklin to Agate Street. Turn left and walk South along Agate Street to 15th Street. See checking in below.
- Taking a Train or Bus
South of the baggage claim at pdx, board the MAX Red Line. Make sure you have an Adult, All-Zones, 2 hour ticket. (about $3). Take the Red Line to the Old Town/Chinatown station. It will be the first station after you cross the river. You will be on 1st Avenue between Davis and Everett. If you get off at the wrong stop, catch the next Red Line going whichever direction you need to (the following advice only works if you start in the right place.)
You are in a section of Portland in which the numbered streets are arranged in numberical order and the named streets are in alphabetical order. Go from 1st and Everett to 6th and Irving. At 6th and Irving, the building to the South is the Greyhound Station, and the building to the North is the Amtrak Station. For instructions when you reach Eugene, see Taking Greyhound Bus or Taking Amtrak Train or Bus below.
- Taking a shuttle
- Taking Greyhound Bus
The greyhound station is on the Northeast corner of 10th and Pearl. If you want to use mass transit, walk east along 10th to High Street (one block) and get on the platform in the middle of 10th Street. Buy a ticket for EMX, and board the EMX to "Springfield Station". Ride about 4 stops to the Agate Street Station. Walk South along Agate Street to 15th. See checking in below. If mass transit has stopped for the night or too expensive, walk South to 13th Avenue. Turn left, and walk East along 13th Avenue to Agate Street. (If you reach Willamette Street, you are going in the wrong direction.) See checking in below.
- Taking Amtrak Train or Bus
Some Amtrak busses will let you off at University and 15th. If so, see checking in below. Otherwise, the Amtrak bus will let you off at the station. The Amtrak train will let you off somewhere along the tracks. First, find the station. From the Amtrak station, walk South along Willamette Street until you get to 10th Street. (Ignore the fact that Willamette is not a street between 6th and 7th – keep walking.) From 10th and Willamette, you can either use mass transit or walk. If you want to use mass transit, buy a ticket for EMX, and board the EMX to "Springfield Station". Ride about 5 stops to the Agate Street Station. See checking in below. If mass transit has stopped for the night or too expensive, walk South to 13th Avenue. Turn left, and walk East along 13th Avenue to Agate Street. (If you reach Charnelton Street, you are going in the wrong direction.) See checking in below.
