SUMMER 2010 INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
and
ACADEMIC YEAR PART TIME INTERNSHIPS

(Note: Students interested in summer 2010 internships must enroll in the winter 2010 Internship Seminar, CIS 407/507, if they have not enrolled in the seminar previously.)

The UO Computer Science Department coordinates an annual Summer Internship Program, operated in partnership with local and regional companies and the Software Association of Oregon. An internship is a pre-professional learning experience through participation in an on-site industry project. Students can enhance their professional skills and explore careers in the field under the guidance of an industry mentor and an academic mentor. Students gain valuable professional work experience, earn a salary, and may earn CIS credit towards the major. The program is for current UO CIS majors. To participate in the summer internship program, students must enroll in the Internship Seminar (CIS 407/507) during winter quarter 2010 unless they have taken the seminar previously. This seminar will cover resume writing and interviewing, as well as a series of talks by industry professionals and previous interns.

In addition to the Summer Internship Program, students may work part time in internship positions during the academic year, and can earn some CIS credit towards the major. To facilitate connecting students and internship positions, the department maintains a list of internships. Students may subscribe to this mailing list, and employers may submit position descriptions.
