UO Selected for Apple At-Home College Program

Apple at Home

Apple will recruit students from UO to work part-time from home, doing technical support. Apple-At-Home students will work about 20 hours per week, on a flexible schedule, providing technical support for a wide variety of devices and software. They will work as paid Apple employees, enjoying both benefits and employee perks including employee discounts.

Working with the UO's Career Center and individuals from the Economics Department and AAA, CIS instructor Kiki Prottsman played an important role in the wooing of Apple. "I am happy to report that UO has been selected as one of [Apple's] preferred schools. While they will accept applications from many departments, Apple recruiters are expected to pay particular attention to those from CIS."

Apple notes "the ideal fit is someone … passionate about technology and experienced with computers, and who likes helping people and putting a smile on someone's face." The work involves trouble shooting, working independently, all to give people a positive Apple experience.

Students accepted by Apple at-home receive several weeks of Apple training in-home, then use an Apple-supplied computer and phone to provide regularly scheduled technical support.
