How to Change Your HTACCESS Password

As you will learn in your week 2 lab, Unix provides an .htaccess utility to restrict access to web documents: Anyone trying to access an HTACCESS-protected directory will be prompted for an HTACCESS username and an HTACCESS password (these are not your gladstone userID and password).

We will use 111 for the HTACCESS username and digits 4-5-6 of your student ID for the HTACCESS password.

If you ever need to change your .htaccess password, here's how:

• SSH to gladstone
• enter "cd" to make sure your home directory is the current working directory
• enter "htpasswd -c htpasswd 111 ". When prompted for the new password enter digits 4-5-6 of your ID
