- How to Handle the 21:00 Friday Deadline
-
Important Points to Keep in Mind:
- Projects started on Friday can rarely be completed by 21:00 on Friday
- Although extra office hours are scheduled on Friday, they typically finish by late afternoon-- after that, you are on your own.
"Best Practice" Discipline of Programming:
Avoid problems and unforeseen complications by adopting these "best practices:"
- Get started early
- Budget time for office hour visits, system down-time, computer malfunctions, etc.
- Do not plan on finding project assistance after office hours on Friday-- plan on completing your project before then.
- Address your email to the GTFs and the instructor, for fastest response times. Note that email is a good channel for short questions, and office hours are the best channel for extensive help and debugging.
- Don't forget the project discussion on the 122 blog. In addition to posting your questions you can also answer other students' questions. This could be a source of after-hours help.
