CIS 610 - Teaching Effectiveness: Tools for Teaching

Goals: This course is intended:

  • to be taken by all new CIS GTFs
  • to provide an array of strategies to use during your GTF and teaching experience while you are at UO and after you leave
  • to encourage you to become more aware of how you teach and how to teach more effectively
  • to provide a forum in which you can share teaching problems and ideas with other GTFs

Readings: online and handouts

Grading: This class may be taken Pass/No pass only. A passing grade will be given for:

  1. regular attendance at and thoughtful participation in weekly class meetings
  2. completion (and handing in) of the weekly questions (see"Questions to Answer" column in schedule)
  3. completion of a teaching project
  • Missing more than three class meetings for any reason will automatically result in a No Pass grade
