01/31/2008 - Clarification: page 1088 of the Cormen text defines the height of a tree as: "the largest depth of any node in the tree." Of course, the depth of a node in a tree is defined recursively as: "The depth of the root is 0. If n is the depth of a node, then the depth of its children is n+1." ...So, I wonder: what is the height of an empty tree? Is it like the sound of one hand clapping?
