Project Proposals due: February 24, Friday 11:59pm
Project Presentations: March 21, Tuesday 14:45pm
Final Reports due: March 24, Friday 11:59pm

Projects are intended to give students the opportunity to explore ideas or directions in Big data that we cover in class (e.g., parallel databases, distributed databases, data integration, data warehousing, MapReduce (Hadoop), NoSQL, and data mining), to design and implement interesting Big data systems and consider ideas from class in more depth, or apply the ideas in real world applications (e.g., business intelligence, bioinformatics, Web, social networks).

Project work will include a presentation and a 8 page final report for all students. Graduate students are expected to design some new ideas or softwares. Undergraduate students can apply existing softwares to interesting applications. Projects will be expected to be individual work.

Project proposals are to be 5 pages in length and will include a definition of the area, the particular problem to be considered in that area, and a list of several references that will support the project. The Big data repository has a wealth of connections for data and projects.

Your final paper and presentation should clarify the following issues:
