Student Conduct Code

The University operates under a student conduct program designed to protect the health, safety, and well being of everyone within the University community and, at the same time, to protect the educational objectives of the university. All university students are expected to abide by the UO Code of Student Conduct. It can be located at http://studentlife.uoregon.edu/judicial/conduct/code.htm.

Computer Science Lab Use Policy

Students using CIS computer facilities are expected to follow the department's laboratory use policy as well as the university's Student Conduct Code and to promote a professional attitude in the laboratory. Students found in violation of departmental laboratory use rules will be subject to departmental sanctions as well as those specified by the Conduct Code.

CIS Department Rules for Lab Use:
  • users must be enrolled in a CIS class authorized to use the facility
  • users must have a CIS computer account
  • computing resources are to be used only for legitimate academic and research purposes
  • no loud conversations (use student lounge for discussions)
  • no stereos or radios without headphones
  • no food or drinks in the lab
  • no offensive behavior

Reports of violations should be directed to the CIS Department Head, the Office Manager, or a faculty member.

Transportation/Escorts

Lane Transit District

Because parking spaces near the UO are often difficult to find, many students choose to ride the bus or bicycle to campus. Bus schedules, are available from the Transportation Resource Center in the EMU, the UO Bookstore Customer Service Desk (first floor, rear), and the Downtown Lane Transit District Information Center (687-5555). Note: Your UO student ID is a bus pass, and it allows you to ride LTD anytime, anywhere for free. Your fare for the term is included in your student incidental fees. Bicycling

If you decide to ride a bike, you will need raingear for the winter months, bicycle fenders, and a lock. You may also be able to rent one of the bike lockers located between Oregon Hall and Deschutes Hall (though availability is typically limited). Contact the Office of Public Safety (6-5444) for other bike storage options. All bicycles on campus must be registered with the Office of Public Safety (Straub Hall). Bicycle registration permits are free of charge. http://safetyweb.uoregon.edu/

APS

The Assault Prevention Shuttle provides students , faculty and staff of the University of Oregon with a safer alternative to walking alone at night and risking possible assault. For full details of the service provided go to http://www.uoregon.edu/~aps/.

Safety Escorts

If a member of the University community (either man or woman) feels threatened or unsafe walking to his or her dorm room or office, the Office of Public Safety offers on-campus escorts during the evening hours. This service is provided based on the availability of on-duty Public Safety personnel and if alternatives are unavailable for the campus member. The number for OPS is 346-5444.

Climate

Eugene has a mild climate with frequent rainfall. Normal annual rainfall is 42.56 inches. Small amounts of occasional snow may be expected between November and February. In the summer, Eugene experiences many sunny days with cool nights. Precipitation is usually infrequent and humidity is low to moderate. Temperature extremes for the area range from -10o F to 109o F. Students should plan to bring warm clothing for the winter months and will definitely need a raincoat and umbrella.

  • Oregon Community Credit Union is located at the corner of 11th and Ferry Streets (687-2347). Membership is open to all students and alumni of the UO residing in Lane County (students currently enrolled and past students of the University), UO employees, Oregon state employees, SAIF, UO Bookstore employees, and family members of all those listed above. https://www.oregoncommunitycu.org/

Child Care
