GSA Grads Disk Usage and Conservation
Welcome to the Grads Disk Usage and Conservation pages. These pages
are intended to draw attention to disk utilization issues within the
CIS Department at the
University of Oregon by providing
current usage statistics on the /home/grads disk and general
information about how to make the best use of, and simultaneous
conserve, disk space.
Graphical Gauge and Top 10 Disk Users
- This section contains a graphical gauge showing the amount
of free space left on the /home/grads disk and the current top
10 disk users. The gauge is constructed on-the-fly by a perl script when you follow this link,
and will be updated in your browser every five minutes.
Disk Usage
- This section lists the amount of disk space currently used
by every user of the /home/grads disk. This information is updated nightly
after the system updates disk usage information.
Disk Conservation Resources
- This section includes several information resources on how
to conserve disk space and be a responsible user of public disk space.
Disk Usage Tip:
Do you use /cs/bin/mydu?
mydu is a simple way to monitor your own disk usage. Run the
program /cs/bin/mydu (for "my disk
usage") every time you login. This script extracts information
from the DiskUsage file and prints out a short message like:
hacks disk usage is 55 MB
/export/grads has 607 MB available (92% full)
This can be accomplish by adding the following line to your
~/.login file:
/cs/bin/mydu
