I) Installation Guide (1) Install the integrator (1.0) Prerequisites. TAU(Tunning and Analysis Utilities) should be installed first. Make sure the environment variable PATH points to the place where the executable file of the pprof tool is stored. For example, %setenv PATH ${PATH}:/home/users/likai/Work/tau2/i386_linux/bin It's recommended to add this script to your shell startup configuation file. (1.1) Download the tarball integrator-1.0.0.tar.gz. (1.2) decompress the tarball. for example: %gunzip integrator-1.0.0.tar.gz %tar xvf integrator-1.0.0.tar (1.3) build the integrator. %make Note: you need to change the variable PREFIX in the Makefile before building it. The executable will be installed at ${PREFIX}/bin. (1.5) Install the integrator %make install (1.6) Make sure add the path to the integrator executable to the PATH environment variable. (2) Install the Performance Plotting Library. (2.0) Prerequisite. Install FTGL first, which depends on Freetype2. FTGL can be downloaded from: http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/henryj/code/index.html#FTGL (2.1) Download the tarball ppl-1.0.0.tar.gz. (2.2) Decompress the tarball. For example: %gunzip ppl-1.0.0.tar.gz %tar xvf ppl-1.0.0.tar.gz (2.3) Configuration. Go to directory "ppl-1.0.0" that generated by decompressing the tarbal. %configure --prefix=. is the directory where the library and the header files are going to be installed. It's /usr/local by default. If PPL is to be used together with the TAU package in SCIRun, it's recommended to install PPL within the place the SCIRun's thirdparty software resides. For example, if SCIRun's thirdparty software is installed at /home/users/likai/SCIRun_Thirdparty/ 1.10/Linux/gcc-3.2-32bit/ then configure PPL like this: %configure --prefix=/home/users/likai/SCIRun_Thirdparty/1.10/Linux/gcc-3.2-32bit/ There are other options for setting the directories of dependant library. (2.4) Build the library: %make (2.5) Install the library. $make install (3) Install the TAU package in SCIRun. (2.0) Prerequisite. Install SCIRun's thirdparty software first. Here's a link to the detailed Installation Guide of SCIRun and its thirdparty software. http://software.sci.utah.edu/doc/Installation/Guide/index.html You also need to download SCIRun and decompress it in advance. You can go the following link to download SCIRun and its thirdparty software: http://software.sci.utah.edu/ (2.1) Download TAU tarball. Put it into /src/Packages/, suppose is the SCIRun directory. Use TAU.1.20.0.tar.gz for SCIRun.1.20. Use TAU.1.10.0.tar.gz for SCIRun.1.10 or older versions. (2.2) Decompress TAU.tar.gz %cd /src/Packages/ %gunzip TAU.tar.gz %tar xvf TAU.tar (2.3) Configure SCIRun with the TAU package added in. See SCIRun's Installation Guide for more information. Because TAU pacakage depends on the Freetype2 library and FTGL library. If these two library are not installed at the standard location, be sure to add the location of the header files of these two libraries to the variable INCLUDES in the file src/configVars.mk.in. (2.4) Build SCIRun. See SCIRun's Installation Guide for more information. (2.5) Make sure add the path to the scirun executable to te PATH environment variable II) Sample Session (1) Start SCIRun. %scirun (2) Load a network. You can load one from /src/Packages/TAU/Tools/. You can also compose one by yourself and save it to some place. (3) Execute the network. You may want to change the options in the GUI boxes of the modules first. (3) Open another shell window, and go to the directory that has TAU dump files. (4) Execute the integrator. See the README file in the integrator installation directory for more information about the usage of the integrator.
