Workshop on
"Mobile Ad Hoc Collaboration"
CHI2002 Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, April 20-25, 2002
Organization
Details about the Conference, Location, Registration, Travel, and Hotels can be
found on the main CHI2002
Webpage.
Twelve
participants will be selected based on pre-submitted position papers. A
major goal of the workshop is to promote discussion on the topics
of interest and the main criterion for selection of work will be its
potential to invoke lively exchange. Contributions might take the form
of experience reports, case studies, design studies, or evaluations of
existing systems and applications. Participants will also be encouraged
to bring mobile devices and collaborative applications that can be shown
during a demonstration session of the workshop.
The
first half of the workshop will be dedicated to presentations
alternating with discussion. There will be three thematic blocks
consisting of 3-4 presentations of 10 minutes each followed by 20
minutes of discussion. Themes for the discussion blocks will depend on
submissions, but may include: Applications/Scenarios, Human/Social
Factors, and Technical Opportunities.
The
second half of the workshop will provide opportunities for extensive
small group discussion. The workshop will divide into 2-3 groups with
the task to identify issues and opportunities related to particular
topic areas. Each group will produce a poster summarizing their findings
and report back to the whole workshop. Afterwards, the participants will
prepare a written summary and draft workshop recommendations for
publication. Workshop findings will be presented at CHI 2002 and in a
later publication.
