We presented an integrated debugging system
that bridges the gap between event- and state-based approaches
by using a novel breakpointing mechanism. It also showcases
the need for successive refinement to achieve
scalability.
The design reestablishes the tenet
that is quite well known in the field of software engineering -
with correct decomposition and suitable interactions, a group of
simple systems can accomplish as much as a more complex system.
It also reiterates a fact quite established in the biological
environment that surrounds us - a hybrid entity almost always
outperforms a compartmentalized one. In the first part of the
paper we validated the services we provide by walking through an
example, and illustrated our philosophy of successive
refinement that permeates through the whole system from the
modeling language to the scalable visualization.
