Computer Science Majors,

As you may be aware, the brand new Tykeson College and Career Advising building is now open on the UO campus. The new advising center in Tykeson Hall will be an advising resource where you can work with professional College and Career Advisors who can help you plan for academic and career success.

As part of the move to Tykeson advising, Computer Science academic advisor Kelly Pratt has joined the Tykeson College and Career Advising team in Tykeson Hall as the flight path coordinator for the Scientific Discovery and Sustainability flight path, which includes Computer Science and MACS.

Kelly and other CIS flight path advisors can be reached at Tykeson Hall. Tykeson Hall flight path advisors have drop-in advising from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday. Appointments with Tykeson Hall advisors can be scheduled by visiting the front desk on the first floor of Tykeson, or by calling (541) 346-9200.

Computer Science faculty advisors are available for scheduled and drop-in advising throughout the week when classes are in session. Advising appointments take place in individual faculty offices in Deschutes Hall. To schedule an appointment, click on an “available” link on the schedule below. To attend drop-in advising hours, simply go the faculty member's office during their scheduled drop-in advising time slot.

Tykeson College and Career Advising is the academic and career advising destination for all students who:

. have not yet declared a major (“Exploring”)

. are declared majors and minors in the College of Arts and Science

. are considering another major or are exploring other majors

. would like to explore career options and opportunities

Students with declared majors and minors in Computer Science may also continue to seek advice from faculty when they need specific information about Computer Science, including detailed information about upper-division curricular and co-curricular offerings.

Advising hours are the best place to get immediate, personal help. Email does not work well for long questions or answers, for example, class scheduling (registration) and degree audit questions. Email to individual advisors or info@cs.uoregon.edu is ok for short, succinct questions that have short, succinct answers. For email questions, please expect that responses may take up to 72 hours (possibly longer during pre-registration and registration).
