A large software system requiring massive data transfers and a substantial computational effort is to be run in a timesharing environment competing for resources with a number of other users. With a simple queuing network as a model of the computer system, the regenerative method of simulation is used for studies of the expected user response times in the system, subject to varying assumptions about the distribution of user jobs' characteristics.
