University of Oregon Covid-19 Regulations
Covid-19 testing is available at Chiles Hall by appointment as a community member or as a walk-in if you have symptoms. While in line outdoors at Chiles Hall, face coverings are required.

Access to your residence hall and entry into the lecture hall requires:

One of the following
- A CDC vaccination card, a photocopy of the card, or a photo of the card on a mobile device. Cardholders must be at least two weeks past receiving their first dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine or the second dose in a two-dose series vaccine.
- Documentation of a vaccine on the WHO emergency use listing administered abroad.
- Documentation of a negative SARS-CoV-2 viral test (either nucleic acid amplification test [NAAT], including polymerase chain reaction [PCR], or antigen test) with Emergency Use Authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, taken within three days prior to OPLSS.
- Documentation of a positive and negative SARS-CoV-2 viral test showing recovery from COVID-19 from no earlier than 90 days and no later than 10 days prior to OPLSS.
- Photo ID showing the documentation above pertains to you. For international attendees, this will be your passport, or other government-issued travel documentation. For US residents, you must show government-issued photo ID such as a drivers license.

One of the following
- Face coverings are highly encouraged inside all University of Oregon buildings except the dining center and your residence hall. Face coverings should be worn in the dining center except when seated and actively eating or drinking. Face coverings are not required while you are alone in your room with the door closed or when you are in the restroom or shower room. Face coverings should cover your nose and mouth, not have visible gaps, and should be of approved design. If you have a medical condition that makes it difficult to breathe, or a disability that prevents you from wearing a face covering, you should email summerschool@cs.uoregon.edu prior to May 27.
- Physical distancing is not required at this time, although it is strongly encouraged especially while you are unmasked in the residence hall or dining center.

Each morning, you must perform this
30 second UO Symptom Self-Assessment
before leaving your residence hall room or coming onto campus.
If you answered yes to any of the questions,
you should remain off campus,
or remain in your room with a face covering
and summon Jim Allen, ideally directly, by covering your face,
openning your door and calling out for assistance,
or by sending email to summerschool@cs.uoregon.edu.
We will arrange a COVID test for you.
If you have severe symptoms and cannot summon help,
you can arrange for emergency transport and treatment
by phoning 9-1-1.
but once you have alerted someone to your needs,
you should remain in your room with your face covered
and the door closed until transport arrives.
If you have a roommate who is not experiencing symptoms,
the roommate should nonetheless wait in your room
until they can be tested.
If you test positive for COVID and must remain quarentined, we will arrange for quarantine facilites and remote participantion in the lectures and other academic activities of OPLSS.

Smoking and Tobacco
University regulations prohibit the use of any form of tobacco products, or the use of other products by smoking or vaping on any lands owned by the University of Oregon. Local ordinances prohibit smoking or vaping on city transit, at transit stations, in public parks, outdoors in designated business areas (legally designated in the ordanice, not through posted signage). Local and state ordinances prohibit discarding of cigarette butts or other refuse on public streets or in undesignated public areas. Local and state ordinances prohibit discarding lit cigarettes or otherwise starting fires in refuse bins. Oregon state law prohibits smoking or vaping in any public buildings, any work place, and within 10 feet of a doorway, ventilation intake, or operating window (whether currently opened or not) of any workplace, or within 25 feet of those features of any public building. Exceptions are provided for approved designated outdoor areas adjacent to bars or taverns.Alcohol
Oregon law prohibits the consumption of alcohol by persons under 21, or the sale or distribution of alcohol to persons under 21. University of Oregon policy prohibits the possession of alcohol on campus. University Housing policy allows alcohol in your room with the door shut, only if all occupants of the room have reached their 21st birthday. Bars and taverns in Oregon are required to inspect identification of any person entering the premises. Restaraunts are required to inspect identification of any person consuming alcohol on the premises.Cannabis and Other Controlled Substances
Oregon law provides for the sale of cannabis for medical or recreational use from licensed facilities only. Oregon law prohibits the free distribution of cannabis to members of the public. Possession of cannabis by individuals under 21 is prohibited by Oregon Law, including minors being in the State of Oregon within 24 hours of using cannabis. Smoking or vaping of cannabis products by anyone on University of Oregon land or at University of Oregon events is prohibited by University of Oregon regulations. Causing an individual to ingest cannabis, tobacco products or any state or federally controlled substance unknowingly is prohibited.Gender-Bias Harassment
Participants are encouraged to report gender-based discrimination including sexual harassment, sexual assault and sexual violence to the Office of Investigations and Civil Rights Compliance or by calling Help for Victims and Survivors at 541-346-7233 (541-346-SAFE).-
University of Oregon Rules of Conduct
All rules of conduct apply while on University of Oregon grounds, or participanting in OPLSS program. In particular,- Misuse of computing resources, including violations of copyright law and exposing the University of Oregon computing network to computer viruses is prohibited. Note: If you have a computer virus on your computer, or your computer does not contain the most recent virus detection software, your access to the network may be terminated.
- Failing to follow verbal or written instructions by university officials, including posted signs designating unauthorized zones, is prohibited.

University of Oregon Housing Regulations
Conferences and youth programs that have guests who stay overnight in the residence halls are expected to follow all policies and procedures below. Disciplinary action and sanctions — including revoking a guest's privileges within University Housing may be imposed by the university against any conference guest or group found guilty of committing, attempting to commit, or intentionally assisting in the commission of any of the following prohibited forms of conduct
- The UO campus is tobacco and smoke free
- Possessing, consuming, or furnishing alcoholic beverages is prohibited in public areas on campus unless at university-catered events or licensed facilities. All state and federal alcohol laws are in effect.
- Illegal use, possession, or furnishing of controlled substances or drug paraphernalia on university-owned or -controlled property or at university-sponsored or -supervised activities is prohibited. Any controlled substance or drug paraphernalia found will be confiscated and destroyed by the University of Oregon Police Department.
- Narcotics and dangerous drugs shall be defined in accordance with the statutes of the State of Oregon and the Student Conduct Code.
- If all guests are over 21, alcohol is permitted within building when conforming to all state and federal alcohol laws.
- Disciplinary sanctions, as serious as eviction from University Housing with concomitant risks of financial loss may be imposed against any guest found responsible for committing, attempting to commit, or intentionally assisting in the commission of any of the offenses listed in these policies.
- Any guest’s behavior to self or to other guests (including disorderly conduct) that results in unreasonable noise, that disrupts the community, or that demonstrates an unwillingness to live in a group setting is prohibited. Courtesy for neighbors in the conference community prevails and noise will be kept to a minimum at all times.
- University of Oregon residence halls are subject to the City of Eugene ordinance regarding excessive noise
- Physical abuse or conduct that threatens imminent physical harm or endangers the health or safety of any person, including lewd or indecent conduct or hazing on University of Oregon property or at university-sponsored or -supervised activities is prohibited.
- Disorderly conduct (including that resulting from drunkenness), unreasonable noise, or behavior that results in unreasonable annoyance is prohibited.

Harassment on University of Oregon property
or at university-sponsored or supervised activities,
because of another person’s race, color, gender, national origin,
age, religion, marital status, disability, veteran status,
or sexual orientation, or for other reasons
accomplished by
- intentionally subjecting another person to offensive physical contact other than self-defense, or
- specifically insulting another person in his or her immediate presence with abusive words or gestures when a reasonable person would expect that such act would cause emotional distress or provoke a violent response
- Any type of harassing behavior is not tolerated and is grounds for immediate dismissal from all university facilities. In addition, a written statement will be sent to the main organization describing the guest’s behavior.
- Conference guests must report lost or stolen keys immediately to their conference organizer.
- Damage, destruction, theft, or unauthorized use of personal property located on the University of Oregon campus or property owned or controlled by the university is prohibited.
- Unauthorized entry or use of University of Oregon property is prohibited.
- The presence of any guest of the residence hall not authorized by University Housing constitutes a trespass. Those trespassing on the premises of the University of Oregon residence halls may be arrested under the ordinances of the City of Eugene and the Student Conduct Code.
- Conference or youth program guests are not allowed on roofs, not allowed to climb up the sides of buildings, and cannot be on the ledges of the buildings. Nothing is to be placed, stored, or exhibited on the ledges of the buildings. Windows are to remain in their tracks. Conference and youth program guests are not allowed to sit on windowsills or extend any part of their body outside the windowsills. Removal of any window screen is prohibited. Nothing is to be thrown, dropped, or spilled from the roofs, ledges, or windows.
- Authorized personnel may enter a conference guest's room for purposes of maintenance, routine inspections, cleaning, or in response to emergencies.
- Bathroom facilities may not be used while being serviced by custodial and maintenance staff.
- To protect public health and safety, the university does not permit animals in its buildings with the exception of service or support animals. Unattended or unleashed domestic animals are not permitted on the property of the university.

We require guests to keep their room doors locked at all times.
Doors should never be propped open.
Interior doors with automatic closers are intended to reduce
the chance of fire spreading through a building
and propping them open is a violation of local fire code.
Should an intruder be discovered in your hall,
call the University of Oregon Police Department (UOPD) immediately.

The building evacuation plan for each building is posted
on every floor and should be reviewed by each person.
Every alarm must be treated as an emergency
and all persons must evacuate the building immediately.
Due to safety, the following are not allowed in the residence halls:- No pets (except for service or support animals)
- No sleeping bags
- No candles or incense
- No hot plates
- No microwaves
- No portable air conditioning units
- No hoverboards or similar types of electronic skateboards
- No smoking
- Possession, use, or threatened use of firearms (including but not limited to BB guns, air guns, water pistols, and paint guns), ammunition, explosives, dangerous chemicals, or any other objects as weapons on university property except as expressly authorized by law or university regulations, is prohibited.
- Possession of knives with a blade longer than four inches is prohibited.
- Brandishing weapons is prohibited.
- Misuse of personal defensive devices (e.g., pepper spray, etc.) is prohibited. The owner is responsible and accountable for any misuse of these devices.
- The evacuation plan for each building is posted on every floor and should be reviewed by each person. Every alarm must be treated as an emergency and all persons must evacuate the building immediately. Possession, displaying, or burning flammable materials including, but not limited to, candles, incense, sage, gasoline, and kerosene lamps is hazardous to the health and safety of guests and is prohibited inside the residence halls.
- Hanging any items over or covering the smoke detector or sprinkler pipes is prohibited.
- Immediate eviction and/or a fine will be imposed for activating false alarms in residence halls, propping open fire doors, creating a fire hazard, malicious burning, or tampering with any fire equipment.
- Conference or youth program guests are not to deface, modify, or remove green emergency safety stickers placed on the inside of every residence hall room door.
- It is the conference guests' responsibility to keep their rooms locked at all times.
