Driving Directions
Flying into Eugene
If you fly into the Eugene Airport, You can use mass transit, taxi or shuttle.
- Taxi/Shuttle
There should be taxis available outside the baggage claim area. Tell the driver that you want to go to 13th&Agate on campus. If you want to make online reservations, you can try Oregon Taxi or Omnishuttle.
- Mass Transit
Using mass transit involves taking the Airport Connector to Highway 99 and then transferring to Bus 95, "Eugene Station" to the Eugene Transit Station. Mass transit connection to the airport is a trial project started in December that may be cancelled at any time, so check the website before you leave to see if you need to take a taxi instead. Once you get to Eugene Station, see From Eugene Station to 13th&Agate below, but use your day pass without buying a new ticket for EMX.

- Taxi/Shuttle
Flying into Portland
If you fly into Portland, you will have to get to Eugene. You can either take the Greyhound bus, the Amtrak bus or train, or a shuttle from pdx to Eugene.
- Taking a shuttle
There are several shuttles from the Portland airport to the University of Oregon campus. The two most reasonably priced are city2city and HUT
If you take HUT, it will drop you off at the Phoenix Inn. From the Phoenix Inn parking lot, walk South along Alder Street until you reach 13th Street. Turn Left on 13th Street and walk East until you reach Agate Street. See checking in below.
If you take city2city, it will drop you off at the Days Inn. From the Days Inn parking lot, walk West along Franklin Blvd until you reach Agate Stree. Turn left on Agate Street and walk South until you reach 13th Street. See checking in below.
- Taking a Train or Bus
South of the baggage claim at pdx, board the MAX Red Line. Make sure you have an Adult, All-Zones, 2 hour ticket. (about $3). Take the Red Line to the Old Town/Chinatown station. It will be the first station after you cross the river.
You are in a section of Portland in which the numbered avenues are arranged in numberical order and the named streets are arranged in alphabetical order (Ankeny, Burnside, Couch, Davis, Everett, Flanders, Glisan, Hoyt, Irving, Johnson, Kearney, Lovejoy, Marshall, Northrup, Overton, Pettygrove, Quimby). You will be on 1st Avenue between Davis Street and Everett Street.
- The Greyhound station is located at 6th and Glisan
- The Amtrak station is located at 6th and Irving
- The Bolt stop is located at 8th and Everett

- Taking a shuttle
Taking Greyhound Bus
The greyhound station is on the Northeast corner of 10th and Pearl. Walk East along 10th Street one block to 10th and High. See From 10th&High to 13th&Agate below.
Taking Amtrak Train or Bus
Some Amtrak busses will let you off at University&15th on campus. If so, see checking in below. Otherwise, the Amtrak bus will let you off near the Amtrak station. The Amtrak train will let you off somewhere along the tracks. First, find the station on 4th&Willamette. From the Amtrak station, you can either use a taxi, mass transit or walk.
- If you want to take a taxi, there may be several taxis in front of the Amtrak station. Tell the driver that you want to go to 13th&Agate on campus. If you want to make online reservations, you can try Oregon Taxi.
- If you want to use mass transit, walk one block south to the bus shelter on 5th&Willamette. Board bus 1, "Eugene Station". You will see on the sign at the bus stop, that bus 1 only runs once per hour. When you board, tell the driver you want a day pass and pay $3.50. The driver cannot make change, so you must have the exact amount. Get off when the bus stops at Eugene Station. See From Eugene Station to 13th&Agate below, but use your day pass without buying a new ticket for EMX.
- If mass transit is inconvenient, walk South along Willamette to 10th Street, 5 blocks. See From Eugene Station to 13th&Agate below,
Taking Bolt Bus
The Bolt stop is on the Southwest corner of 5th&High. Walk South along High Street to 10th&High. See From 10th&High to 13th&Agate below.
From Eugene Station to 13th&Agate
From Eugene Station, you can either use mass transit or walk.
- If you want to use mass transit, Go to the bus shelter on 10th Street, just west of Willamette. From the kiosk, buy a ticket for $3.50, and board the EMX to "Springfield Station". Ride 5 stops to the Agate Street Station. From Agate Street Station, walk South along Agate Street to 13th.
- If mass transit has stopped for the night or too expensive, walk South to 13th Street. Turn left, and walk East along 13th Street to Agate Street, about 15 blocks. (If you reach Charnelton Street, you are going in the wrong direction.)

From 10th&High to 13th&Agate
From 10th&High, you can either use mass transit or walk.
- If you want to use mass transit, Go to the platform in the middle of 10th Street, east of the intersection. From the kiosk, buy a ticket for $3.50, and board the EMX to "Springfield Station". Ride 4 stops to the Agate Street Station. From Agate Street Station, walk South along Agate Street to 13th.
- If mass transit has stopped for the night or too expensive, walk South to 13th Street. Turn left, and walk East along 13th Street to Agate Street, about 13 blocks. (If you reach Willamette Street, you are going in the wrong direction.)

Checking In
campus mapArriving between 10am and 5pm on Sunday 6/19
Your check-in time is 5:00 PM on Sunday 6/19. If you arrive before that, you can leave your luggage at Deschutes Hall, and collect it before 6:00 PM. Unfortunately, Deschutes is locked on Sunday. Jim will be somewhere near the front door. If you don't see him, call 971-533-7546 and tell him you are at the front door. Or, you can mill around Eugene with your luggage until 5 PM.
To walk to Deschutes hall from 13th&Agate, walk about 1/2 block west along 13th to the information kiosk in the middle of the street. On your right (northwest of the kiosk) is Deschutes Hall.
If you are taking a taxi, ask to be dropped off at Carson Hall on 13th Street. Most taxi drivers will be familiar with Carson Hall. Deschutes is across 13th Street from Carson Hall. If the driver is not familiar with Carson Hall, they should turn West onto 13th Street from Agate, and proceed to the kiosk in the middle of 13th Street. The driver can let you off at the curb where the street widens just past the kiosk. You will be in front of Deschutes Hall.
Arriving between 5pm and 8pm on Sunday 6/19
If you arrive during normal business hours after your check-in time, proceed to the Living Learning Center North between University Street and Agate Street between 13th Street and 15th Street. The main desk is located inside the northeast entrance. Go to the main desk and say you are with the Programming Languages Conference. Tell them your name, and they will give you your keys and directions to your room.
To walk to LLC North from 13th&Agate, walk about 1/2 block west along 13th to the information kiosk in the middle of the street. On your Left (southwest of the kiosk) is Beech Street. Walk along Beech Street a few yards until it turns into a sidewalk. Walk along the sidewalk about 1/2 block by the sand volleyball court to the cross sidewalk. LLC North is on your right (the southwest corner of the confluence of sidewalks).
If you are taking a taxi, ask the driver to turn west on 15th Street from Agate. On the right is Walton complex, and after that is LLC South. The driver should let you off between LLC South and Walton. Walk north between LLC South and Walton. Past LLC South, will be the LLC lawn, and then LLC North.
Arriving between 8pm on Sunday 6/19 and 8am on Monday 6/20
If you arrive outside of normal business hours, proceed to Morton Hall. Go to the front door, which is on the northwest corner of the hall, next to the front door of McClure. Knock on the door if you see people. If you are there really late, knock loudly, yell, or call Jim at 971-533-7546 to get your keys.
To get to Morton Hall from 13th&Agate, go south to 15th Street and turn right onto 15th. On the right is Walton Complex. Past Walton is LLC South. Past LLC South is the Earl Complex. Walk north on the sidewalk between LLC South and Earl. On the left, you will walk by the halls of Earl: Young, Stafford, Sheldon, and Morton.
If you are arriving by taxi, direct the driver to 15th and Agate. Then turn on 15th going west. On the left is Hayward Field. On the right, you will see Walton complex, then a fire lane, then LLC South, then a sidewalk, then Earl complex. The driver can let you off in front of Young Hall. Walk north on the sidewalk between LLC South and Earl. On the left, you will walk by the halls of Earl: Young, Stafford, Sheldon, and Morton.
Important note: Jim will be the only person who can help you outside of normal business hours. It does not behoove you to call campus security because they will suggest you find a hotel room.
Arriving after 7am on Monday 6/20
If you arrive during normal business hours, proceed to the Living Learning Center North between University Street and Agate Street on 15th Street. Go to the main desk and say you are with the Programming Languages Conference. Tell them your name, and they will give you your keys and directions to your room. After 9am, you can choose to go directly to the lecture hall at the Knight Law Center. During the lunch break, you can check into your room.
Checking Out
Your last meal is lunch, Sunday 7/3. People usually leave between 4:00PM on Saturday and Noon on Sunday. When you leave, please place your keys and meal card back in the envelope you received upon check-in. Keep the University of Oregon lanyard.Leaving between 8am and 8pm
Take your key packet, with your keys and meal card to the LLC North Desk.Leaving before 8am
Give your key packets, with keys and meal cards, to Jim in Morton hall.
